Derrick I. Temple, Sr. is the founding Pastor of Urban Christian Church of Oxnard, California. Derrick has been in the ministry for over 36 years and has been pastoring for over 25 years. He is from a preaching family, under whom he calls the "Godfather" of his family, J. C. Wade, Sr. He proudly served as Assistant to the Pastor under his Uncle, Melvin V. Wade, Sr. Derrick's passion is preserving the life and works of Black preachers through this publishing company. While all Christians are welcomed, Derrick calls Urban Publishing House, LLC, "The Black Preacher's Publishing Company." Derrick attended Bishop College of Dallas, Texas, and later received his B.A. Degree in Biblical Studies at the Criswell College in Dallas, Texas. He then continued his education at Master's Seminary in Newhall, California, Talbot Theological Seminary in LaMirada, California, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary of Wake Forest, North Carolina, Gateway Seminary in Ontario, California, and Channel Islands Seminary in Oxnard, California. Derrick also has an earned MBA Degree from the University of Phoenix in Woodland Hills, CA. Derrick accepted his call to ministry in 1986 and has continually had a growing passion for thoughtful ministry to the local body of Christ. He is the husband of Mellanie Ann Temple, the father of Derrick Temple, Jr., and Alonzo Temple, and the proud grandfather of Aniyah Temple-Droughn, and Princeton Love-Patrick Temple. Pastor Temple is a preacher and astute Bible teacher and scholar. Derrick has been taught to turn problems into opportunities and champion challenges.
